A lilypad and a fallen autumn leaf float on a still pond.

"Calm"
Full frame shot taken in the woods behind my house. There weren't many leaves left on the trees at the time. The ones on the ground make an interesting background when out of focus.

"Caught"
A section of the Ipswich River (Massachusetts, US) in the autumn. A slow shutter speed blurred the moving water. There is rushing water and bright yellow and green leaves.

Historic cemetary in Ipswich, Massachusetts (US). It was a rainy evening. Some of the trees are a bit blurry because the breeze moved them during the long exposure.

A small plant just starting out. It is growing at the base of a lichen-covered pine tree in the Beech Forest at the tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts (US). Even though the plan was only a few inches tall, it already had autumn colors.

A fallen maple leaf resting in the snow. As the sun shines on the leaf, it warms up and starts to melt its way through the snow.

"Colorful Decay"
A leaf from a Sumac tree in the early fall. Other leaves on the tree will turn bright red as the weather cools down.

A mixture of common New England plants in the autumn including goldenrod, aster, poison ivy, and others. Taken in a field bordering a marsh.

"Field Flowers"
An autumn leaf from a tulip tree laying on a decaying log in the woods. The tulip tree, also known as the yellow poplar, is known for having a tall, straight trunk which used to be used for the masts of sailing ships.

"Autumn Tulip-Tree Leaf"
A milkweed seed pod beginning to split open and distribute its seeds. The slightest breeze can carry these seeds far from the parent plant.
